A Commitment to You
Personally
We live in an increasingly impersonal world where the needs of
the individuals are often overlooked. The desire to be heard
and the joy of participation sometimes go unfulfilled. But this
is not what Jesus had in mind for His church. He was and is concerned
with each of us individually. That is why we have made a commitment
to small group ministry, which we call LifeGroups.
What Are LifeGroups?
LifeGroups are small groups of approximately 6-15 people who
meet weekly at a member's home. LifeGroups provide a casual,
friendly setting where you can meet new people, worship, pray
for one another and participate in lively Bible discussions.
They are the perfect complement to our larger public services,
offering a more intimate and personal level of ministry.
A Place to Receive Encouragement
Those presently involved in small groups often find it is the
highlight of their week, because they receive so much personal
encouragement. Support and care of fellow believers is a major
focus of LifeGroups. "Therefore encourage one another and
build each other up..." (1 Thess. 5:11)
Group Discussion Bible Study
Bible study in the LifeGroup does not follow the traditional
classroom model of teacher/student, but rather an informal group
discussion which encourages participation. This kind of learning
fosters personal discovery and revelation into what God's Word
is really saying to us.
Personal Discipleship
No matter how effective a Sunday School program or preaching
service we have at church, without one-on-one discipleship, few
are ever really discipled. More than ever before, we need the
older members of our churches to train younger members. Relationships
that go beyond normal scheduled church services are needed to
accomplish this, and LifeGroups provide that opportunity.
Every Member a Minister
The LifeGroup is the ultimate place for every member of the Body
of Christ to learn ministry skills, discover spiritual gifts,
and learn how to apply those skills and gifts in real-life ministry
situations. By participating in regular, weekly meetings everyone
learns how to counsel, lead others to Christ, administrate, and
serve. "Each one should use whatever gift he has received
to serve others." (1 Peter 4:10)
Gain Valuable Friendships
Each of us needs to be a part of a positive community where strong
relationships can be developed. Relationships built in times
of need and crisis are among the strongest. In a small group,
each person's needs are constantly being addressed, and in times
of crisis, sickness or tragedy, LifeGroup members do the caring,
the praying, the visitation and the need-meeting for every member
of their group.
Reach Family and Friends
The LifeGroup is an effective way to reach family members and
friends with the Gospel. The warm, friendly atmosphere of a home
gathering make invitations easier and sharing the love of Christ
more natural.
